1 1. What do you think the
film is about and what might the storyline be?
We can see the central image is of a male which suggests to the viewer that he
will be the protagonist (hero)
Looking at the poster we can see a tagline in the top right hand corner
with the words “man has made his match… now it’s his problem” what this
suggests to the audience is that the women on the poster is going to be his
‘problem’ therefore we will be following the story of both the male and female.
The word choice of ‘made’ suggests that he may have even created the women
which suggests how the movie may begin.
We presume the ‘problem’ will be the female
due to her being the only other character who is significant enough to be on
the poster. More over the facial expression of the female suggests a negative
role (of the antagonist) as well as
the type of lighting used. The connotation of the prop (the cigarette) is also negative and it also has synergy with the tagline of ‘match’ –
you can even see the smoke of it reaching up into the tagline thus visually
connecting the too.
2. 2. What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
Due to the prop of a futuristic gun and a
flying car working in synergy with the image of the metropolis that seems
futuristic we can infer that the genre will be Sci-fi as these are often seen
as the key conventions of sci-fi
movies. The iconography therefore
works alongside the metallic colour scheme to enhance the concept of a sci-fi
movie.
The typography
of a more animated font also is another key convention of these sci-fi
movies.
3. 3.Who do you think is the target audience?
The poster has a strong suggestion that
it’s an Art house movie to too the
highly animated feel of the poster thus suggesting an Art house audience which
mainly consist of the urban middle class
population. Due the genre we can also infer that the target audience is most
likely to be 18-32 year olds. The actors name is also shown on the poster which
shows that his loyal fan base is also a likely target audience.
Scary movie 2
1. What do you think the
film is about and what might the storyline be?
The film is most likely to follow the story
of a group of teenagers (as they are all presented on the poster and share
around the same amount of space as each other suggesting an equal amount of
importance between them) from the tagline
we can presume it will be what the tagline says. Due to the movie being a sequel we can tell it will carry on a
story which the last film probably left of at. From the way that the characters
are dressed we can presume that each character will show an important to/stick
to the certain connotations we have with each costume. We can presume the girl
on the right hand side with the green top will be the flirt out of the group
and the girl on the left hand side with the red top is more likely to be the
smart one who investigates most the scenes due to the captions on their shirts.
This is reinforcing the typical
stereotype of teenagers.

What genre(s) do you think the film belongs to?
From the tagline at the top in yellow we can tell that it is a comedy movie. This works in synergy
with the overly dramatic expression each of the characters wear. When we look
at the little we can see a little ‘scary’ face in the ‘o’ of ‘movie’ which
means that this movie is a parody
and will be making fun out of typical horror/scary movies.
3. 3,Who do you think is the target audience?
The target audience is most likely to be
teenagers which we can tell by looking at the cast on the poster. They all seem
that they are supposedly meant to be playing the role of teenagers who are labelled
with things like ‘the flirt’ etc. This means it’s trying to get the audience to
identify with each of the characters thus enjoying the film more. The movie
seems to be (maybe)aimed at older teenagers though as there is use of the word
‘shameless’ and the characters don’t seem too young. This means it’s probably
aimed at teenagers of a middle class background and probably of the age range
of 15-21

film is about and what might the storyline be?
The movie is most likely to be of a male protagonist (the central image) that
lives in an urban area (where the image is set). Due to the fact that we don’t
really see the leads face we may feel that he has a ‘shadow’ cast over him or
he might be having some sort of identity crisis and he’s trying to find himself
and so the audience only knows one piece of information(the title). The snowy
setting may be a visual representation of the lead feeling ‘cold’ inside which
works in synergy with the overall
dark, mercy and cold colour scheme
of the overall poster.

The film is most likely a drama genre due
to the dark concept of the overall poster. The fact that is an Art house movie also adds to this idea,
as the overall editing of the poster
doesn’t seem too overly up to spec which suggests it’s a low budget movie with
usually explore some sort of social issues.
3. 3.Who do you think is the target audience?
The target
audience is most likely to be c-b
class demographic as the movie seems to explore a sensitive issue which may
be something like war/depression. The audience seems to be a much mature and
serious audience suggesting the age range may be something around 25-40 due to
it being an art house production and
not many young viewers go to independent cinemas.

film is about and what might the storyline be?
The story is most likely to be a focus of
the boy who is the central image of
the poster facing his fears that lay in the tunnel that he’s looking down at in
the image. We know he may be facing some sort of fear where he needs to be
brave due to the title. The title is written on the side of the cave which
suggests what he’s ‘not’ afraid of what’s in the tunnel. The fact that he’s
looking down into the cave/tunnel we can presume he’s about to get ready to
face whatever’s inside due to his fascial expression.

The film is most likely going to be an adventure (maybe suspense due to the
reference and focus on the concept of fear) genre due to the brightly coloured
sky and that the focus is on something unknown which in this case is the cave
the protagonist is looking into.

Who do you think is the target audience?
The target
audience may be families due to the lead being of a fairly young age and it
seems like another art house movie so again the more limited target audience. Therefore
the target audience is likely to be middle class and (if watching individually)
from 19-28(?)

might the storyline be?
There is a group of people (the top 4
characters) that play the lead roles of the movie due to the main focus of the poster
on them. The smaller character near the bottom of the poster shows a male
character who is most likely to be the antagonist due to the casted showdown over
him to sort of represent the ‘dark side’.

The movie is most likely to be an action
movie due to the iconography of the black and red colour scheme and the guns in
the hands of all the lead characters. The clothing of the characters, like the black
leather jacket of the protagonist, and the long black cloak of the antagonist
are also few of the key conventions of action movies.

The target audience of action movies are
typically males therefore the percentage of male target audience would be 80%
and 20% female. The age range is most likely to be around 20-30

might the storyline be?
The film is about pirates, we can tell this
by the costume of the male lead and the picture of pirate ships right below the
lead roles, this works in synergy with the title as they create a clear image
of what the movie is about. There is a female character next to the male lead
suggesting a love interest at some point. The poster also has this warn out
feel to it like old maps which creates to the theme of pirates as well as the
typical skull and wooden sign associated with the pirate style movies.

The movie is a mix of adventure, fantasy
and action as that is what pirate style movies usually consist of. We also get
the idea that it will be an action movie due to the gun that the lead role is
playing.

The target audience is likely to have a
wide range of 15-33(but may also reach a 13-15 range as well) due to the
overall franchise which also targets previously loyal fan bases of the movie.

might the storyline be?
Due to the sentence at the top we can presume
that it’s a romantic story between the two characters that are the central
focus and the characters lined up along the back are the reason for the comedy
which suggests mishaps. The fact that the poster has reference to Indian
culture suggests it’s a more diverse movie are that is most likely going to be
the root of the ‘comedy’

The film is most likely a rom-com due to the tag line and
most likely a parody of the book of ‘pride and prejudice’ from the change to ‘bride’
we can see that it will be making fun out of the concept of the book.

The target audience are most likely to be from an Asian background
due to the show of Asian culture in the background due to the reference to Indian/Pakistani
culture as they are more likely to understand certain inside jokes which are exaggerated
in the movie (regarding their culture). The movie is most likely to be aimed at
a young adult target audience but could range a bit above from around 17-35
(making it a sort of family film)

might the storyline be?
The film is most likely to be focused on
the female who is the central image and she might even be the ‘million dollar
baby’ as the title is almost labelled to her back. The two male characters are
in the shadow behind her so we can tell they will have some sort of direct link
to the character but it may not be so easy to spot as they will almost
certainly ‘remain in the shadows’ when in contact with the girl in the movie
suggesting some sort of separation she has with the two characters(she might be
an isolated character).From the title we can connote that this movie might even
be a kidnap movie and the character may be worth a million dollars as ransom.
She seems to sort of be wearing a black
sports top suggesting she may be participating in some sort of sport.

Due to the dark colours and isolated feel of
the poster we can see that it may be an action movie or is we look at the more
isolated and alone side expressed by the poster we can almost predict a sort of
drama movie genre.

Who do you think is the target audience?
The target audience
for the genre is most likely young adults so the age group of around 18-28.
